Basically, you take multiple exposures varying the shutter speed for each such the shadows are exposed properly in one, the highlights are exposed properly in another, etc. These exposures are then combined to produce one final image.
I love the landscape in your neck of the woods - you've got some really great images in your gallery that I think would benefit from the technique.
but your right! im so lucky living where i live and i think next time i will try it out!
